Scavenger Hunt!!!!!
By: Sara Beth Drake
Our youth group crammed into all the cars that we could with all the trunks
filled with plastic bags. We also had one more thing, a list of canned goods, or
boxes of food with a value of 8 points, 10 points and so on. WHAT IS IT??? It's a
scavenger hunt!!!
All the kids scattered into cars. Some went to their neighborhood the daring
to some stranger's homes. We rang doorbells left and right. Our voices were
running so fast because we only had 30 minutes. It was hilarious! You were
running up and down the streets with cans clunking at your ankles and your voices
fading because you were yelling so much. "You only have 10 minutes" the parents
would yell at the kids 50 ft. away.
Our purpose for all this chaos? To do the work of god believe it or not. The
thing is each time we have a theme, the homeless, IHN, or Tsunami victims. We
give it away to anyone who would need all this food. With god in our minds I think
it keeps us going. We are the only people to spread gods hope to all corners of the
earth.
Why do kids do it? WINNING!!! As soon as 30 minutes passes our time is
up and we are called to the church to separate our goods into the high points low
points and so on. Then we decide the winner. There is no prize but knowing that
you've done well for the lord is good enough.
So after this paragraph think to yourself that we can make a difference.
Because we are the body and here at St. Giles Presbyterian Church to keep the
lord's hands and feet going to reach out to others.
